SIX: Silence - Identify - Expel
A Doctrine for Restoring Order in Private Events
From the essay
Not long ago, I attended a presentation on Long Island, New York. After a few introductory remarks, several individuals jumped from their seats, unmasked themselves, and began screaming slurs and angry statements. Their purpose was not to ask a question. It was not to debate. Their purpose was to break the structure. A private event is not merely a room. It is a temporary republic of attention. SIX—Silence, Identify, Expel—is my proposed language. The doctrine is behavioral, not ideological. It must apply equally to all viewpoints and all private events that adopt it.
