Backstage of Political Campaigns - The Mamdani Case Study
From the essay
I have watched American politics long enough to know that idealism rarely travels alone. Every campaign is a negotiation between conviction and interest, a transaction disguised as a crusade. Nowhere is this mix more visible than in Zohran Mamdani’s ascent in New York City. Institutions seek influence; non-profits seek ideological continuity; individuals seek belonging. By mapping the overlap of these motives we can see how a moral narrative turns into a governing coalition. My goal is to trace the flow of influence, to map where ideology becomes currency, and to ask what this means for civic neutrality in a city built on pluralism.
