GRAVITATIONAL WAVE COMMUNICATIONS
A. Introduction
From the essay
Human communication technologies have always relied on waves—sound waves, light waves, radio waves. Each new carrier extended the range and fidelity of human interaction. Radio allowed signals to span continents; lasers extended communication to satellites and deep space. Yet all of these rely on electromagnetic waves, which, though versatile, have limitations: they scatter, they can be absorbed by matter, and they can be deliberately jammed or intercepted.
