A Conservative, Home-Based Exploratory Framework for Mild Juvenile Scoliosis During Observational Management Including Physical Therapy
Neuromuscular Symmetry, Directed Muscle Engagement, and Localized Micro-Massage as a Complement to Standard Clinical Monitoring
From the essay
Mild juvenile and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), defined by a Cobb angle near the diagnostic threshold, is frequently managed through observational management with scheduled follow-up imaging, sometimes accompanied by conventional physical therapy focused on general strength, flexibility, or posture, before decisions regarding bracing or surgery are made. During this “watchful waiting” interval, which may include non–curve-specific PT, families often receive limited guidance directed specifically at the asymmetric neuromuscular factors that may influence curve behavior during growth.
