Investigating the Causal Link Between Body Medical Conditions and Brain Disorders
From the essay
The relationship between physical health conditions and brain function remains an underexplored yet critical area of medical research. Traditional approaches to neurological and psychological disorders primarily focus on brain-centric causes, often overlooking the systemic impact of general health conditions on brain function. Existing research has established associations between systemic inflammation and cognitive decline. For instance, systemic inflammation can lead to immune responses in the brain, resulting in cognitive symptoms such as memory lapses, confusion, and behavioral changes similar to psychiatric conditions.
