Turning Toward the Sun: Future Architectures for Maximizing Solar Energy Efficiency
By Lev Neymotin, PhD, N5Digital, Inc.
From the essay
This research paper explores a futuristic yet plausible roadmap for dramatically enhancing the efficiency of solar energy harvesting. Drawing inspiration from heliotropic plants and the poetic imagination of science fiction, we examine a spectrum of architectural and technological innovations: from smart, suntracking houses to orbital reflectors that shorten sunlight’s path through the atmosphere. We also explore speculative yet technically grounded concepts such as photosynthetic building skins, airborne solar collectors, and adaptive materials that reshape themselves in response to the Sun.
