The question is simple, but not small: when a construct gains power, does it allow other constructs to remain, or does it demand transformation, submission, silence, or disappearance? The subject is not individual people, private souls, or personal moral guilt. Individuals are deliberately outside the discussion. A “Leave Us Alone” construct primarily asks to exist on its own terms and to be left alone. A “Be Like Us or Die” construct cannot tolerate the unconverted other. The civilization worth defending is the one that does not require conquest as its normal condition of existence.
