Overview
Every living organism moves through time as a coordinated system of clocks. Some clocks are visible, like heartbeat and breathing; others are hidden inside organs, tissues, and cells. Loss of coordination among those clocks may contribute to disease, aging, and the great differences in lifespan across living creatures. Life is usually described through structure, chemistry, genetics, energy, and information. All of that is true, but it misses one quiet dimension that may be just as fundamental: life is also organized motion through time.
