Overview
Most players hear the same warning: do not just hit hard. Be patient. Keep the ball in play. Dink. Wait. Let the other player make the mistake. That advice is useful against uncontrolled power, because average power without timing is a donation. But it is not the whole truth. There is another kind of speed: planned, compact, disguised, spin-shaped, and released only when the ball and the opponent give permission.
